Hermanus has a wide range of restaurants offering a variety of food choices for the visitor – and by far the majority are privately owned.

Most restaurants are clustered in the Village Piazza, close to the sea, some of them with views across the bay – so you can sit and munch while watching whales. The majority have outside seating as well, which is great on sunny days. This is the social hub of the town, and there are also some interesting shops in the main building. Here you’ll find:
- CUBANA LATIN CAFFÉ (franchise): Good whale watching spot. Pub & Restaurant serving light meals. Overlooking Walker Bay.
- EUROPA COFFEE SHOP: Popular breakfast and lunch spot.
- LEMON BUTTA (franchise): Overlooking Old Harbour. Seafood and sushi bar.
- CELINO’S: Breakfast, lunch & dinner
- PIZZA PARADISO: Italian restaurant, popular and affordable.
- LA BARRE: quaint pub serving light meals.
- FUSION CAFE: Affordable, well presented breakfasts, lunch & dinner.
- MEDITTEREA: Upmarket Mediterranean seafood restaurant. Dinner and Sunday lunches. Spectacular views of Walker Bay.
- THE OCEAN BASKET (franchise): Affordable seafood restaurant with amazing views across the bay. Popular with locals and families.
Just across the road from Village Piazza there are steps leading down to the sea. That’s where you’ll find:
BIENTANG’S CAVE: Unique setting in a cave on the rocks facing Walker Bay. Daily for lunch, dinner by arrangement. Popular events venue.
At the Market Square you’ll find:
- THE BURGUNDY RESTAURANT: Dinner plus Tea Garden with sea views from the outside seating area.
- FISHERMAN’S COTTAGE: Charming Fisherman’s Cottage restaurant on Craft Market.
- TAPAS: Popular pub with light meals.
In and around Town:
- ANNIE SE KOMBUIS: South African cuisine.
- THE BAREFOOT COOK: Popular lunch venue with garden setting.

- ROSSI’S: Good value pizza, pasta, seafood & steaks. Popular with local families.
- SAVANNAH CAFE: Breakfast & Light Lunches. Very popular with locals.
- TIKKA PALACE: Tasty Indian and Pakistani dishes, located at Misty Waves Boutique Hotel in Westcliff.
- BELLINI’S: Popular, owner-run coffee shop with an art gallery.
At the New Harbour there are 2 popular restaurants:
- THE ROCK RESTAURANT & GECKO BAR: Seafood Restaurant & superb sundowner venue at the New Harbour. Stunning views. Popular sushi bar and pub. Now also serving Thai food.
- QUAYSIDE CABIN: Quaint setting at the New Harbour. Very popular with locals and visitors. Superb seafood and reasonably priced.
On Grotto Beach (Blue Flag) there is: DUTCHIES: Breakfast, lunch & early dinners. Overlooking popular swimming beach.
Hemel-en_Aarde Village:
- THE CLASS ROOM: Superb, upmarket restaurant operated by Warwick’s Checf School.
- B’s STEAKHOUSE: Award winning steakhouse, very popular with locals and visitors.
Hemel-en-Aarde Valley:
- LA VIERGE RESTAURANT AND CHAMPAGNE VERANDAH: Upmarket with beautiful views of the valley.

- HEAVEN: Beautifully situated in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valey. Superb lunch venue.
- MOGG’S COUNTRY COOKHOUSE: Situated on the farm Nuwepos, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Country cooking.
Onrust:
- GODDARD’S GRILL: Affordable prices. Pub popular with locals.
- MOLTENO’S: Very popular restaurant with locals and swallows alike. Pasta, pizza & traditional South African cuisine. Excellent value.
- THE MILKWOOD RESTAURANT: Magnificent setting on Onrus Beach. Breakfast, Tea, Lunch & Dinner.

- WARWICK’S CHEF SCHOOL & FUNCTION VENUE: Chef School opening for dinners at specific times of the year only. Catering for all occasions, weddings, etc.
- BELLA NAPOLI: Popular pizza place.
